LM3914: Let me discuss it with customer request.

Part Number: LM3914
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LP3944, LP3943

Hi, team.

I have inquired below.

e2e.ti.com/.../734417

I understood that there are no devices that can be configured without changing surrounding signals.

I think not good.

Therefore, customers are considering to form discrete circuit.

<Consider>

· Don't change ambient signals.

· Customer is trying to make a discreet disc.

· Change of base pattern is possible.

I will introduce TI's device as below.

Isn't there a clearly problematic device select?

Also, is there another good device?

Please advice me.

  • Hi Pokkun,
We don't have the device that can replace LM3914 directly, if you can provide the detail specs form your customer. Maybe we can help to choose the suitable device for you.

  • Hi, Pokkun,

As you can see from original post, LP3944/LP3943 is recommend for alternative parts.

We also have other multi-channel led drivers which may be more suitable.

So do you have any specific requirements for the LED driver? From my side, forming a discrete circuit takes more effort than switching to a new driver.

    Let me know your thought.

    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Kenneth
  • Thanks for your comment, Kenneth-san.

Can LP3943/3944 satisfy the request below?

    <Customer Request>
Customer would like to drive it without communication with MCU.
In addition, other detailed specifications are below.
    · Voltage of "LEDV +" = 5 V
    · Voltage of "RHB" = 9V
    · Voltage of "SIG IN" = 0 to 10 V @ Analog Sine Wave

These conditions can not be changed.

    Best regards,
    Pokkun
  • Hi, Pokkun,

As you can see from the datasheet, these two devices are using I2C control, so it needs MCU commands.

    Thanks.

  • Hi, Kenneth-san.

    >As you can see from the datasheet, these two devices are using I2C control, so it needs MCU commands.

    I already know that.

We will reorganize the situation again.

    · The customer controls the LM3914 with analog signals.
    → MCU does not control.
※ Customers can change the pattern, but can not change the control method.
    · We believe LP3943 / 3944 introduced as a substitute can not control with analog signal.
→ So I asked discrete to make a configuration like the LM 3914.

Please answer the question of the first thread.

    Best regards,
    Pokkun
