[FAQ] PoE: How will IEEE 802.3bt PD solutions (TPS2373, TPS2372) interoperate with non-standard PSEs?

Hi team,

Our customer evaluated TPS2373 EVM and meet some issue,

they use PLANET (PoE-171A-95) 802.3bt PoE injector test EVM and find below message,

" The TPS2372 is also able to interoperate with non standard PoE++ PSE controllers" 

1. Customer would like to know how TPS2373 to verify PSE is non-standard and how to analyze?

2. TPS2373 can still support 60W load with worming message above, it means TPS2373 also support non-standard?

3. Do we have recommend BT PSE injector?

    I suggest that you, and your customer, view the following video as a starting point --> training.ti.com/tps23723-working-noncompliant-high-power-pses-upoe-poe-and-poh . It discusses how our TPS2373 and TPS2372 work with IEEE 802.3bt non-compliant (also known as "proprietary") solutions such as PoE++ from ADI.

    The industry is at a real inflection point right now where the IEEE 802.3bt standard is ratified (will be published to the public in 1Q19) but an interoperability test suite is not yet available. To learn more about the movement to release a test suite, and logo certification, please read our FAQ on this topic, located here --> e2e.ti.com/.../724427 . TI serves on the 'GEN2' committee and forecasts that the new test suite will be available in 1Q19 as well.
