LP8556SQ-EVM: LP8556SQ-E9, Default EPROM

Part Number: LP8556SQ-EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LP8556

LP8556 Support team

When I confirmed the default configuration data of LP8556-E09 on LP8556SQEVM, I noticed that default data is different from the data in datasheet. And also, GUI tool changed Address:0xA0 to the correct data.

The below is EPROM data(Address A0 to AF) before and after GUI start-up.

    Before : D1 CF 2F 02 72 04 80 F6 04 A0 0F 00 00 00 0F 01

    After : FF CF 2F 02 72 04 80 F6 04 A0 0F 00 00 00 0F 01

The below is a part of the WRITE processing by GUI tool.

Why does GUI tool re-write the EPROM?

Will it take effect immediately after re-writing the EPROM? Or, is there additional processing required?
Thanks
Tamio
  • Hi Tamio,
We you use the GUI to power up the device, which command you have clicked? EPROM can only be wrote one time, it's not E2PROM, what you read is regs date for each regs.

  • Hi, Seen

I didn't click any command button in GUI Tool. I only observed I2C communication data of GUI tool using I2C monitor function of Aadvark adapter. Please check the command processing when GUI Tool is executed. And also, please check why the actual default EPROM data is different from the EPROM data in datasheet.

I don't have any method to confirm the EPROM data of each revision(-E0x). Therefore, I worry whether the EPROM data in each revision devices is the same as the EPROM data of datasheet. If possible, please let me know about the each EPROM data.

    Thanks

    Tamio

  • Hi Tamio,
Please refer to LP8556 datasheet page 36 to 37 and there is a reg AF contain the EPROM version information, can you read this reg and check what's the real EPROM version you are using, I'm worry that may there is mistake for soldering. And is there any application question?
    Best Regards

  • Hi, Sean

Please check the attached file which is the logging data at GUI start-up.

EPROM revision is 0x01h. It is the same revision as the setting data of the datasheet(SNVS871J). But EPROM data I read from LP8556SQ-E09 on EVM is different from the datasheet. Why can't I read the same data as the setting data of the datasheet?

Please check EPROM data of other devices sooner, check it of -E02(TM) and -E07(TM) at least that customer will use for new project.. If -E02(TM) and -E07(TM) is different from the setting data of the datasheet like -E09(SQ), customer will occur some issue.

    Thanks

    Tamio

  • Hi Tamio,
I have a question, how you get the data before start the IC? I have checked with our designer, when it power on, it will load the default EPROM data to all regs. So all versions should match with our data in datasheet. Don't worry about that. What you read is not come from the EPROM, it came form the regs that have not been load from the EPROM, after startup it will load from the EPROM.
    Regards
    Sean
  • HI, Sean

The below is the flowchart when I checked. I checked EPROM not before the device is powered up, but after that. Could you show me the command process when you confirmed EPROM?.

    Thanks

    Tamio

  • Hi Tamio,
I will try to get some help from our designer. I will update to you when I get any help form designers. So what's the application issue for your application? Thanks.
    Regards
