[FAQ] TPS23861: Reset rise/fall timing spec. of reset pin (PoE PSE Startup Guidelines)

Part Number: TPS23861

Hello

Does TPS28861 have any rise/fall timing specification of reset pin? Thank you.

BR

Patrick

  • Patrick,

Yes, there are guidelines on how to properly design the TPS23861 when it comes to the RESET pin. Have you read the sections in the datasheet which discuss the reset pin (pages 15, 23, 78, 180)? The special notes on pages 23 and 180 are particularly important to highlight.

There is also a white paper called "TPS23861 Power-On Considerations" (SLVA723) which discusses the topic in greater detail. You can find it here --> www.ti.com/.../slva723 .

If you have read those documents, please let us know any portions that are unclear and/or you seek additional guidance.

Thank you for your support of PoE products from Texas Instruments,
  • Hi Patrcik,

Please take a look at what Thomas suggested to make sure the power on sequence is followed(RESET signal and VPWR). This is very important to ensure device proper operation. In addition, for RESET signal itself, there's no specific rising and falling time requirements, but there's a minimum deglitch time requirement in datasheet section 6.6. Thanks.

    Best regards,
    Penny
