What type of bridge do I need for my PoE PD application?
This depends on the efficiency and power level requirements of your design. Type 4 power levels typically use a full FET bridge such as the TPS2373-4EVM-758 using discrete components or a more integrated FET bridge such as in the TPS2372-4EVM-006. FET bridges typically drop efficiency by ~1-2%. Type 2-3 PoE PD applications typically tend to use a FET-diode bridge such as in the TPS2372-3EVM-757. Type 2-3 FET-diode bridges typically drop efficiency by ~2-3%. Type 1 -2 PoE PD applications typically tend to use a schottky diode bridge. Schottky diode bridges typically drop efficiency by ~3-4%.
