[FAQ] TPS2373-4EVM-758: Active Bridge Rectifier Disconnect Circuit (Q18)

Part Number: TPS23754
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2373-4EVM-758

Hi Sir,

There is an Active bridge design on the TPS2373-4EVM-758 and we applied it with TPS23754 design.

1. May I know what's the purpose of the Q18 on the active bridge circuit? Do we still need to add Q18 circuit if we design a divider resistor to pull high the APD pin?

2. If we design a divider resistor to pull high the APD pin, the active bridge could be totally shut off?

  • Hi Teresa,

Q18 is needed to turn off the active bridge circuit to prevent additional current leakage from Vdd to Vss to minimize power consumption when Auto MPS is used to keep the PSE port awake while the adapter is providing power.

    Thanks,
