Selecting a part for medical application

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25570

Hello,

I am looking for a charger IC for a medical application with the following characteristics and was wondering if you could advise me.

General

The device is a low power device with a battery and a solar panel. 5V and 3.3V are required for the application.

The battery is a lifepo4 battery (safer than li-ion) with an IXYS SLMD481H08L solar panel (around 700mW, 5V open circuit 170mA).

The charger IC should be able to extract power from the solar panel even in low light condition, to extend battery life as long as possible.

If it does not affect efficiency too much, a protection should be in place to avoid damage in case of reverse battery insertion. If this affect efficiency too much, we will look into a mechanical protection.

I looked into the bq25570, but after a quick read it seems it requires VOUT < VBAT_OV but I need a 5V rail with a 4V battery over voltage.

Power usage

3.3v rail: 1mA for 10ms, 5mA for 500ms, 20mA for 50ms, 0.02mA for 8000ms

5v rail: 0 for 10ms, 0.5mA for 500ms, 0 for 50ms, 0 for 8000ms
