Design power circuit for 10W Solar panel

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS709, TPS7A26, TLV767, LM317, BQ24650

Dear friends,

i want to power up my cc3220 customized board through 10W solar panel with out battery.

so anyone can suggest best power regulator for my need.

thank you.

  • Hi Natesh,

It seems as though there will be a variable input voltage for this application. Can you please confirm what the range is for this as well as the expected output current? Do you need a device to just power the CC3220 or will this be used to power something else as well?

I would like to recommend you use a buck/boost in front of an LDO regulator. Some devices that I can recommend for the LDO would be: TLV767, or TPS7A26, TPS709 if low ground current is needed.

You may be able to get more ideas on how power supplies are done by checking out the Solar energy section of the Grid Infrastructure landing page:

  • Dear wilson,

i was complete my weighing machine using cc3220 and hx7811. but i want power up the module through 12V/10W solar panel. my panel short circuit current is 600ma. i already design my power circuit with LM317 that is working but now i want upgrade my design with optional battery charging and discharging method like MPPT. so please suggest any regulator for my requirement.

    thank you
  • Natesh,

You can check BQ24650, a battery charger with input voltage dynamic power management for solar panel applications www.ti.com/.../BQ24650.
