TPS65910: Power-on by push button

Hi,

We are having one circuit with TPS65910A3A1RSL. Actually the circuit is made as required for push button press to low for power on function.

But it is not working like that. Device is powering on when supply is inserted to it without pressing push button. configuration is done as boot1 to Vrtc (1) and boot0 to ground (0) as this IC is being used with AM335X processor. Can anybody tell me what can be the problem here. And what is the role of VMBHI_IT_MSK bit of INT_MSK_REG register in this feature.

There is no problem here. If you refer to the TPS65910x User's Guide for AM335x Processors, on page 6 you will see that Figure 3 shows the power-up sequence and a push-button press is not required. The EEPROM definition for TPS65910A3 as defined by the AM335x processor team does not wait for PWRON pin to toggle (push-button press) before starting the power-up sequence.

Hi Brian,

My question is, if we want to start the power-up sequence with push button then is it possible in BOOT1 as HIGH and BOOT0 as LOW circuit configuration? if it is available then is it related to VMBHI_IT_MSK bit of INT_MSK_REG register setting?

Nilam,

I have re-assigned this question to the Sitara processor team. I am not aware of a way to force the system to wait for a push-button press before power-up sequence is executed. The PMIC definition for TPS65910Axx does not wait when power is first applied to the system when BOOT1=Hi, BOOT0=Lo.
