BQ25890: BQ25890 REGN issue

Part Number: BQ25890

Dear Sir,

My customer consider use BQ25890 to design a new project, but he face a issue by BQ25890 REGN issue.

this project input BUS voltage is 5V ~ 12V, as see datasheet show V_REGN will be change when VBUS <9V or > 9V, that As you know that will influence of BQ25890 JEITA temp. measure result;

May I know how to provide a regular voltage(6V) to TS let TS can normal working not effect by input voltage 5V/ 12V.

Please you kindly review & advise.

Thanks!

  • Hi Steven,

    When VBUS < 5.6V-6.4V, the linear regulator, that provides REGN, runs in dropout with REGN= VBUS-I(REGN)*Rdson.  The external TS resistors and internal TS comparators and their reference voltages are all connected to REGN, whether operating as a linear regulator or in dropout.   Therefore, the TS function operates normally whenever REGN is providing an output regardless of the linear regulator operating mode.

    Regards,
