BQ76PL455A: BQ76PL455A Charger

Hello,

I am planning to use BQ76Pl455 for 16 cells. The thing that I did not understand is that does the BMS module includes a charger inside or should we connect a charger between Power Input and Battery? If we should deal with charger, is there any charger model of TI which is compatible with this BMS IC?

Hi Yusuf,

Bq76pl455A is AFE. It has no charger. It monitors the 16 cells in series.

Can you give us little more detail?

Are you referring to charger for rechargeable batteries?

Yes, I am looking for a charger for 16 cell in series. I have found some industrial type of charges which is not controllable by BMS. I am looking for a charger(CC/CV is preferred ) for 68 VDC level which is controllable by BMS IC which is Bq76pl455A.

Hi Yusuf,

Bq76pl455A is not a charger.

It is AFE device.

It can only monitor 16 cells and provide data to MCU.

Hi Yusuf,

You might want to consider the similar AC-DC battery charger as the reference http://www.ti.com/tool/TIDA-00355. We don't have dedicated DC-DC charger IC above 7S..
