LM25019: Isolation rating of this spec

Part Number: LM25019
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5019, TIDA-010006

This spec falls under the isolated flybuck converters line but I don't see any information regarding the isolation specs on the datasheet. Is it rated for 1.5kVrms or 3kVrms isolation?

  • Hey again Lauren ,

The isolation transformer on the LM5019 EVM is the same series, Coilcraft LPD5030V-154ME so it also has a 1.5kV isolation rating. You can also use a higher isolation transformer from the magnetics vendor.

Are you specifically looking for 3kV isolation?

  • Hi Orlando,

Yes, I need up to 3kVrms. This is for an auxiliary power supply in a grid infrastructure application (helping a customer find a part recommendation).

Would you happen to have any other suggestions? Requirements are (including 3kVrms isolation) 2 W output, 12V-20 V input, 20V output, working voltage needs to be 50-60V, sometimes 600V (in a worst case scenario), and really needs to be pretty simple to design in. They have a preference for flybuck topology.

If not then no worries I can keep looking. Really appreciate the help!

    Thanks,

    Lauren

  • Hi Lauren,

I found a decent isolation transformer, the Wurth 750343953 with 3.75kVAC isolation from TIDA-010006.

I'm not sure what the working voltage is and the extra windings are unnecessary, but otherwise it will work in a Flybuck topology.

I will look into my magnetics contacts and see if they have a better transformer and let you know,
