The following document shows key considerations when choosing external components for your BQ25710, BQ25713, BQ25713B, BQ25700A, BQ25703A, BQ25708 design, as well as the tradeoffs. 

The BQ257xx family of devices are 1-4 cell buck-boost charge controllers that require a host via SMBus or I2C to operate. The attached document is a checklist for reviewing the design of this particular family of devices. It details the external component selection and pin connections, as well as minimum requirements for proper operation of the charger. Components are numbered to match the BQ25710EVM and BQ25713EVM reference design schematic component designators. 

The component selection is details in the following four categories:

Required - Absolutely required for proper operation

Recommended - Recommended to optimize performance

Recommended-DNP - Recommend as a non-populated component footprints to improve performance post-fabrication 

Optional - Optional componetns

Using this information, customer can reduce external components based on their application, as well as use this document to help in assisting with schematic reviews.
