BQ24650: Schematic review request

Part Number: BQ24650
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34110, LMR36506

Hello, I have a design that I need to be reviewed. It has $40 of TI silicon on each board, including:

1 bq24650 Charger

1 bq34110 Fuel Gauge

2 LMR36506 DC-DC converter circuits

3 LMR3360 DC-DC converter circuits

How do I get a schematic review of these circuits?

The design also has a ton of TI interface, isolation, and processors, but that's a different forum.

Thanks,

Derek

  • Hi Derek,

Have you checked out our FAQ regarding schematic review for the BQ24650? Here is the link which tells you what components are critical vs recommended vs optional: https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management/f/196/t/791790

Let me know if you have further questions regarding BQ24650.

  • Hello, That helped for the bq24650, but what about the Fuel Gauge and DC-DC circuits?

Also, I looked through the bq24650 guide on the link and have a few questions:

Page 9: What are specs for D7? This is the fast recovery and asynchronous schottky diode to reduce reverse recovery loss. Will the same diode I'm using for the bootstrap capacitor refresh schottky work? It's 40V, 380mA, Vforward = 1.0V.

Page 10: R13: what value is recommended? This is the high-side FET gate drive resistor

Page 10: D5: what are the specs for the diode? I assume the same one I mentioned above can work? This is the high-side FET gate drive diode

Page 11: For charge temperature range of -20C to +65C, will 2.55k Ohms for Rtop and 8.06k Ohms for Rbottom work?

STAT1, STAT2 pins: I want to connect them to LEDs but also connect them to an MCU. Do these need pull-up resistors, in addition to the LED resistors?

  • Hey Derek,

Please send me your files and the specific list of TI devices you need reviewed and I'll do my best to get what feedback I can. Please try and limit to those devices most troublesome or difficult.

    regards,

    Tony
