Is the thermal / power pad internally grounded or only connected to ground through Vss?

    Hi John,
    The thermal pad is not noted on the data sheet as ground or isolated. Normally a die is attached to the pad with a resistive material unless isolation is required. Until there is further information assume it is grounded, but not sufficient to replace the GND (VSS) pin. The board should keep the pad isolated or connected to the same potential as VSS.
