Hi all,
I'll use bq24075 IC to charge LiPolymer battery. As you know, polymer batteries require a protection module which protects the battery from overcharging, overdischarging and short circuit condition. Does this IC supply these protections? Or, should I use a PCM additionally? Any advice?
Thanks all
All of the "bq" chargers require a separate protector. There may be some gas gauges that have protectors built in, but this would be clearly marked in the data sheet.
Hi,
Thanks for quick replying. I understand I must use a protection circuit, isn't it? I searched ICs from li-ion protection part, and saw they supply overvoltage protection, but I need undervoltage and short circuit protections as well because of liPolymer batteries characteristics. As inexperienced in power management area, I am waiting for your advices.
Best regards
Most protectors implements OV, UV and high current charge and discharge.
