LM3658 Icc_stby

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM3658

Hi all,

LM3658 Icc_stby current is specified typically at 400[uA] with max 600[uA].

But who could give me the minimum specification (I want to measure this current)?

I have in my hand a chip that has a Icc of 25[uA] in stand-by with Vcc=5.25[V], Vbat=4.25[V], topoff finished.

Thanks for any help.

Stephane

  • Hello Stephane,

The typical case for the standby current for this device provides a current consumption that could be expected when the the Recommend Operating settings are applied. Typically the standby current can be influenced be reducing the input voltage but with the size of the disparity before the LM3658 and the other device you are looking at it I am not sure that the gap can be closed.

Can you provide the other device that you are looking at for my edification and to assist me in a cross analysis?

  • Hello Ryan,

I had an issue on my PCBA: When charge finished, LM3658 was effectively going into stand by. But my PCBA had abnormal current leakage (5[mA]) from CHG_IN to BATT leading to overcharge the battery.

What happened is the Protection circuit of my battery disconnecting the cell when battery voltage went over 5.28[V]. Then the BATT voltage seen from LM3658 was around 5[V], leading the IC to go in Power Down Mode.

This is why I had such a low current.

    Anyway, thanks for the help,

    Stephane
