bq24610: DropOut voltage

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24610

What is the minimum DC input voltage (ADAPTER IN) required for a given charger voltage selection?

In my current design I am pre-constrained to use a +18V DC regulated (17A) open frame supply in my charger design.  I need 16.5 v constant charging voltage (probably no more than 2.5 to 3A).

I chose the bq24610 due to its ability to handle my +18 V supply and 4 LiPo cells, plus the internal mosfets.  However, I can switch (pun) to a different device if the drop out differential is too low.

  • For bq24610, referring to the specs listed on page 5

    SLEEP COMPARATOR (REVERSE DISCHARGING PROTECTION)

VSLEEP _FALL SLEEP falling threshold VVCC – VSRN to enter SLEEP 40 100 150 mV

    VSLEEP_HYS SLEEP hysteresis 500 mV

The input voltage at VCC pin should be at least 16.5V+150mV+500mV=17.15V for the application.

    Thanks.
