BQ24253 and /PG function to control EN1 pin

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24250, BQ24251, BQ24253

Hello,

Please reference page 22 of BQ24250/1/3 datasheet.  The first paragraph of page 22 has the following statement about BQ24251:

"The /PG pin will remain high impedance state until the detection is completed."

Does this statement equally apply to BQ24253?

Details:

I have no need for D+/D- pins (floating), and want to use an external resistor to set max charging current.  Furthermore, I prefer to use Stand Alone mode.  However, based on 1 or 2 other forum posts here, there needs to be about a 700ms - 1s delay before changing EN1 state.  /PG appears to do this automatically, page 22 of the datasheet.

My goal: to use BQ24253 /PG pin as indirect trigger for EN1 pin, to set "Externally programmed by ILIM" of Table 1, page 22.  Therefore, I need to know if the datasheet statement above applies equally to BQ24253.

Can I use BQ24253 /PG pin to appropriately trigger EN1?  (EN2 will be permanently connected to GND.)

Best Regards,
