bq24133 voltage calculation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24133

Dear All ,

In BQ24133 , in the input current regulation phase ,  how to calculate VACSET . In datasheet of BQ24133 formula is given , But to calculate IDPM , the value of VACSET is not known . Also In Battery current Regulation , what is the value of VISET ?  to calculate ICharge .Please kindly help with necessary explanation .

Thanks & Regards ,

  • Hi Sarat,

The bq24133 automatically handles the charging profile.  ACSET and ISET are used to set maximum current limits.  If you are using the typical system configuration such as found in the datasheet Figure 1 (pg 4), then your ACSET should be ideally calculated at max charge current + max system load. ISET should be set to limit the fast charge current. Fast charge current limit should be determined from what battery you are using.

The adapter should be sized such that it rated to provide as much or more current as ACSET pin setting.  However in most cases this adapter maybe is too big or too expensive, so the ACSET pin allows you to set a lower input current limit and the the bq24133 will throttle the charge current down when the total power requirements exceed the input power supplied by the adapter as described in the Input Current Regulation section of the datasheet on page 17.

    Thanks,

    Rachel
