bat charger for head set

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24392, BQ24253, BQ24257

In case you are not familiar with our product we are designing the Dash – full wireless headset. This comprises of two ear pieces plus USB Charger Case containing battery for offline charging.

We would like to ask whether TI could support us with design proposal using TI devices to fulfill the list of requirements below and even support us in finalizing schematic design:

Bus/Battery powered USB2.0 and BC1.2 compliant device for

o   Charging build-in battery from upstream port (from PC and from dedicated charger)

o   Connecting two Dash devices to a PC for USB connectivity via the above upstream port

o   Charging Dash battery from upstream or from build-in battery via downstream port

  • Providing side-band analog signal to the Dash for

o   Measured State-Of-Charge of the build-in battery

o   Reset signaling from RESET button

We are under schedule pressure and would appreciate prompt reply on our request.

  • Can you draw a block diagram of your request and repost, showing the upstream and downstream paths?  It appears you need at least two separate chargers, one for the headset and one for the case?  Also, what is the capacity of the battery in the headset and and the battery in the case?

  • If you are referring to

Then, from our currently released products (none of which perform USB enumeration), I would recommend:

-bq25100 for the ear buds.  I assume the ear buds each have a u-processor and so can perform USB enumeration to achieve USB BC1.2 compliance.

---If you want more USB communication, there is the bq24392 which performs the primary and secondary detection.

-bq24250, bq24253, or bq24257 for the case's battery charger.  I assume the case will not have a u-processor.  Luckily, these ICs have D+/D- pins that can do primary and secondary USB detection.
