BQ24650 LODRV ringing

I am using the SI7938DP-TI-GE3 dual MOSFET for the DC/DC Buck. The MOSFET seems to have excessive heat for the current being controlled. When I scoped the LODRV pin I noticed a large ringing after the pulse goes low.  The HIDRV pin does not have the ringing. I think this is the reason for the excessive heat. I am using a two-layer board. I noticed that the evaluation circuit uses a 2.2 ohm resistor (R5) between the BTST pin and the Zener diode. Is this resistor used to prevent this ringing.
