We are planning to use the BQ24292i as main power front end for our design

When using the system with a Battery connected and in case a wrong programming is sent to IC the system may become unstable and unrecoverable.

We are considering to add a reset button to our circuit.
Is it possible to reset or power cycle (On-OFF-On) the part?

Marco,

Set REG01[7] would reset the registers to default. How do you want to add the reset button? Either VBUS or VBAT above POR will keep the register setting.

The only way to hard reset the charger is to remove the adapter and the battery, however there are some other options to consider.

The charger registers can be reset to default by writing REG01[7] = 1. You can also temperately interrupt charge to check your system and setting by pulling /CE pin high.

Also, if you're using the watchdog timer, and something goes wrong with the microcontroller, the bq24292i will timeout into default mode operation, reset to default register settings and charge the battery autonomously.
