what is full form of OTG in CHARGER IC? Why we need VSYS on Charger IC?

I am asking to know the reason behind it

  • OTG stands for On the Go. It means the device can provide 5V at its USB connector that is powered from the devices battery. The charger works in reverse as a boost converter instead of a buck converter. The SYS rail allows a portable device to start up immediately when power is applied instead of having to wait for a discharged battery to charge high enough for the electronics to startup.
  • Tq jeff.

    Another doubt,

USB connector will source power to downstream device right then why the battery need to power USB 5V.And in which situation buck converter is used.

    P

  • If power source is connected to USB adapter then the charger uses buck converter to charge the battery. If a peripheral USB device is connected to USB adapter then the charger is changed into a boost converter, powered from the battery, in order to power the peripheral.
  • thank you very much for your immediate response Jeff
