Need Help for selecting the battery management IC

Hello Experts,

We have existing product which works on +12V car battery voltage,we have used the TPS54329 3-A SYNCHRONOUS STEP DOWN CONVERTER switching regulator for +5V output & TLV1117-3.3 LDO for +3.3V output.We are using the GSM/GPRS module,so it will require the 2A current in burst mode.

New Requirement of Customer :
- By default device should works on +12V car battery voltage.

- If the device disconnects from car battery voltage,it should switch to back up battery(Lithium Polymer 4.2V).

Development :

I am on the way to design the device as per the customer requirement.I want to interface the battery management IC as below,(See attached pdf)

+12V Source => TPS54329 Regulator => Battery management IC => LDO TLV1117 => System Peripherals (Load)

When the +12V source disconnects from car battery,then TPS54329 outputs 0V.At that time device operates on back up battery which will be Lithium Polymer(4.2V).TPS54329 output current is 3A. Battery should have 3A input current range,Output current 3A, dynamic power path management,over voltage protection,under voltage protection.

Can some one please suggest me the right battery management IC.

    For a standalone option, please consider the bq24170 family of parts. Note that you would not necessarily need the TPS54329 on the input with this option.

    We have other chargers with more options depending on the customer's desired features such as offering charging via USB option. I don't see an attached pdf you refer to, so please let us know if the customer has any additional system requirements.

    Sorry for late reply,i am facing some issue with my login page.

    I have gone through the datasheet of BQ24170 ,it fulfill's my requirement without using the TPS54329 Switching regulator.

    Our local TI distributor suggest me the BQ24266 battery management IC for my application,that's why i choose the BQ24266 IC.I have done the PCB design & given the gerber file for manufacturing,now waiting for PCB from manufacturer.Will do the new design asap.

    Couple of questions : 

    - Does my BQ24266 battery managment IC works with the output of TPS54329 switching regultor?

    - Does this above configuration will affects my Li-Polymer battery?How the battery management IC manages the Li-Polymer battery charging, discharging & Output voltage?

    - Does the BQ24170 IC works like TPS54329?
