FCC Compliance using bq500212a and bq51013b?

Hello,

I have a customer that is using the above two chips in a prototype and would like their product FCC approved.

From my understanding KDB 680106 requires the compliance lab to submit a compliance test plan to the FCC.

Both Part 15 and Part 18 are mentioned. Without giving away any proprietary information, can TI advise me what many of their customer's are qualifying their products to? Given a simple wireless charger that communications its state between two devices. It doesn't do anything else. 

It would make my job much easier if I could glean some sort of generic guidance from those that have already done this!

  • Additional information: The charger only Receives communication (battery state). The charger sends a pulse of power out intermittently. The other device receives this pulse of power and then Transmits communicating its battery state. In essence true communication only goes one way. I have not verified if this is how the Wireless Power Consortium protocol works, but this could lead to different classifications in regards to compliance testing to FCC rules. Any guidance?
  • Here is an additional email that my boss had composed to TI.

    I have a customer that is designing TI’s bq51013b & bq500212a into his devices to do wireless charging.
    Device 1. One device is simply a docking station that is powered by USB and is just providing power for wireless charging the second device.
    Device 2. The second device simply receives power wirelessly from the first device to charge a battery that is simply used to light LED’s when needed.

    My customer would like to get FCC approval for these devices.

    My questions are related to the approvals required.
    Does someone at TI know what the approval process is for both the transmitter and the receiver?
    Is there someone I can talk to at TI that may be able to help me and my customer to determine the correct process for approval?
    Is it verification? Is it Certification? Is it FCC Part 15 or FCC Part 18?
    I am sure there must be other products that use these TI parts that are already approved. I would like to know what some of those devices are, so that I can look up the certifications to see the Parts of FCC rules that apply to both the transmitter and the receiver.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
