Using EV2400 with both Charger and Gauge

Hello,

I'm designing a system with a BQ24773 and a BQ34Z-1xx, and for initial prototypes I'm using the EVMs for both ICs and a EV2400 for communication.Currently if I connect both devices to the EV2400, the BQ34x is detected on bqStudio and it's interface shows up. To select the BQ24773 the interface it needs to be the only device, and when opening bqStudio it needs to be manually selected.

Is it possible to utilize the bqStudio software with both devices at the same time ( connecting them both to the I2C bus)? On our final design both devices will be on the same I2C bus.

Hello Arthur,

You can open two instances of bqStudio at the same time, one for the bq34z100 and another for the bq24773, but you would need 2 EV2400's for this. I believe when bqStudio boots up and detects an EV2400 it assigns that USB COM port to that instance, so when you open a second bqStudio, the EV2400 is already assigned to the first instance.

However you can get two EV2400's, plug in the first EVM, open bqStudio; then repeat the steps with the 2nd EV2400.
