BQ25892: Question regarding I2C

Part Number: BQ25892

Hello team ,

My customer VVDN wants to know what shall be  Vih and Vil for the SDA and SCL lines when the pull up resistances are pulled up to  3.3V

The datasheet specifies the Vih and Vil for 1.8V as shown below

Thank you so much

  • Hello Shreenidhi,

The VIH and VIL thresholds are defined on the I2C specification. On the latest revision of the spec, the thresholds are defined as follows:

    • VIL=0.3*VDD
    • VIH=0.7*VDD

Using a VDD of 3.3V means the VIL and VIH thresholds would be 1V and 2.3V respectively.

Please ensure the pull-up resistor is also chosen to account for the bus capacitance and rise times required for proper communication.
