BQ24075: BQ24075 Uninterrupted supply

Part Number: BQ24075
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25895

Hello Sir,

I am designing a biomedical product using raspberry pi3, it needs an Uninterrupted supply. It should give an output of 1.5A ~ 2A  at 5V.

I am planning to use 2.4A Li-Ion battery(18650). I think  BQ24075 is suitable for our application, Is it give the output constant and continuous output if the power fails ?

  • Hello,

The bq24075 would not be able to support 1.5A-2A at 5V out.

I would recommend looking at something like the bq25895 with your load connected to PMID pin. This would supply 5V to your system and then if 5V disappears if the OTG feature is configured after the 5V droops enough the bq25895 will start boosting back the power out f the battery.

However I do not know if the recovery time of the bq25895 will be fast enough for your application.
  • BQ24075 is a linear charger with power path, it could be used as an uninterrupted supply, but the output voltage could not be 5V.
Because there is only a FET between battery and OUT, so you need a charger with OTG function(could let VBAT boost to 5V).
    Regards!
