BQ24610: Vref pin causing issues

I am getting 10V across C4 capacitor (referring to the application schematic in datasheet). I have connected the circuit as it is in the application schematic (page 26 of datasheet). Only difference is that I have a 0 ohm resistor between IC ground and power ground.

Supply voltage 14.5 V

Voltage at STAT1 = 0.8V

Voltage at STAT2 = 8.8V

Voltage at PG = 8.8V

LED D2 is glowing brightly, but D3 and D4 are dim. I am testing these without the battery or load connected. As soon as I connect the battery, it is drawing a much higher charging current than I have set for.

Voltage at REGN pin is 0.475V

How many PCBA with this problem? seems it is solder problem.

Hi Alen,

Yes it seems so. I have assembled and tested another board, and now it is working fine. I am getting the expected voltages at Vref and REGN.
However, I find that during the fast charge phase, my Adapter voltage is very wildly fluctuating. I had set it at 13.2V initially. It is fluctuating even upto 22V during the fast charge phase. What could be the reason for this?

Hi Venugopal,

Do you mean 13.2V is charge voltage or your adapter voltage? if it is adapter voltage, why you can set the voltage of you adapter?
