BQ25570: Disable Buck Converter

Hi,

I am planning on using the BQ25570 in my next project, but won't be using the buck converter (VOUT_EN permanently tied low). Do I still need to bias VOUT_SET, or can I float it in this condition?

Hello,
If you don't intend to use the buck converter, you can take a look at the BQ25504 which is similar to the BQ25570 except it doesn't have a buck converter.

Thanks for the response!

My peak input power from my panel is in the range of 400mW. It looks like the BQ25504 tops out at 300mW which pushed me towards the BQ25570 (510mW max input power).

If I use the BQ25570 can I float the VOUT_SET or do I need to bias it in a particular way?

Lawrence,
You can set VOUT_EN low by connecting it to ground. This will disable the buck converter.

Yes, I'm more interested in what needs to happen to the VOUT_SET pin. Can I float that pin with VOUT_EN tied low? The datasheet is silent on this question, and I am hesitant to make assumptions since the divider interacts with the 'nano-power management' which duty cycles the sampling of that pin.
