BQ25703A: bq25703A / Use only POSCAP as output capacitor

Part Number: BQ25703A

Hi,

As stated in datasheet, we know that the ceramic capacitor has dc-bias effect, so the customer consider to use only POSCAP as output capacitor to reduce total component area.

  1. Then can you recommend to use only POSCAP as output capacitor? The main concern is loop stability.
  2. At the case only ceramic capacitor, you recommend to place minimum 6pcs of 10uF, then is the 47uF POSCAP enough with stable operation?

Best Regards,

  • 1. The ceramic capacitor has a small size (less parasitic inductance) and low ESR which can reduce the EMI noise and power loss on the ripple current. So, I won't recommend only POSCAP as output capacitor.
    2. 47uF POSCAP should have a stable operation. But, what is the POSCAP maximum Irms value?
