BQ24610: voltage available at SYSTEM when adapter is pluged in

Part Number: BQ24610

Hi,

1.Can you please explain how the VCC for the IC is obtained when powered through adapter? Because the FET is OFF since gate of it is pulled high?

2.Also when powered through adapter what voltage is obtained at SYSTEM point and what current is expected there while charging the battery?

Please suggest as soon as possible.

Regards,

Karthik

  • Hello Karthik,
    1. VCC is directly connected to adapter through FET Q1 as shown in application diagram on the datasheet. VCC is connected to the source of the 2 back-to-back PFET, but gate is driven by ACDRV. ACDRV pin is set to VCC-6V internally to turn on the FET. Refer to section 9.3.8 System Power Selector in the datasheet.
    2. System is directly connected to adapter as shown in application diagram. Current supplied depends on the input current limit, your system load and charge current. Refer to section 9.3.3 Input Adapter Current Regulation for detailed description of DPM, and how to configure these limits.
