BQ25121A: Voltage output rising to match VIN when powered on.

Part Number: BQ25121A

Hi,

I have a customer using the BQ25121A and they are observing three different cases where the SYS voltage is measured to be 0.6V, 2.5V (nominal) and equal to the input voltage (VPROG - see Figure 1).

The issue seems to occur across various conditions, where:

 1.  It most prevalently occurs when VPROG is approximately equal to the default VIN(DPM) (4.6V). The issue itself is temperamental, where all three cases can be observed simply by turning the power supply on and off (when VPROG = 4.6V) a sufficient number of times.

 2. The effect seems more pronounced at colder temperatures, where it occurred approximately 50% of the time at -5°C and to a lesser extent at room temperature (approx. 20%). Few instances were observed at 55°C.

3. The issue persists when VPROG is set to either 5V or 5.5V, although becoming more seldom as the input voltage increases.

This issue can also be reproduced on the EVAL board.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, James
