We designed a lithium batterypack with the bq78PL114 some time ago. On your website is indicated that the bq78PL114 is not recomended for new design.

We do not have plans to halt production for the PL114 device. The firmware differences between the PL114 and PL116 are covered in the PL116 Technical Reference Manual.
