Hi Guy
currently, i try BQ30Z55 gas gauge and I have a question.
How can I Design for Capacity Degradation ? Lower then 95% of design capacity ?
About Default data : Design Capacity is 4400mAh_CD is set 4200mAh
Arking
The default setting is not a good reference here.
This parameter is application dependent. For general usage, it's mostly not necessary to enable this feature. The capacity degradation PF is looking at if any of the cell's Qmax value falls below the DF setting, and the FW will PF the pack. A cell with degraded capacity will reduce the run time, but it is not necessary post a safety concern.
Customer may use this feature in some special applications. For instance, if a particular application have a pack configuration where Qmax different between cells is very significant, it may not be effective to use the QMax Imbalance PF feature (this feature check on delta Qmax among cell). In that sense, user can utilize this feature to look at any cell among the battery pack that fall below the threshold.
In summary, the device has Qmax Imbalance PF that can cover Qmax difference among cells. It is not necessary to use capacity degradation PF for this purpose unless an uncommon application calls for it. A pack with degraded capacity (given cell to cell Qmax is similar) reduces run time, but doesn't post a safety concern. In this case, it is an application dependent parameter to determine how low the capacity should be set to in order to force a new replacement of the battery pack.
I need program bq30z55 to study ,but i can't download from ti.com
