My customer is having difficulties with the BQ active X controls, please see below. What can we do to help her?

Hi. I am having some problems compiling and running an application using the active x controls to control the battery gauging chip (bq20z70). These active x controls were written in vb6. I am having all sorts of interoperability and permissions issues using them in a .net environment. Specifically, I can run it on a development machine, but get a memory violation error when the form is created when running on a different machine. Do you have any more recent controls that were compiled in a .net environment that I could use?

Again, the files in question are the bq80xRW.ocx, bq80xusb.dll AxBQ80XRWLib.dll, BQ80XRWLib.dll, AxInterop.CustomTesterHelper.dll, AxInterop.TesterHelper.dll files that must be included in a .net project.

Are there more recent controls that were compiled for .net frameworks 2.0 or above i.e. compiled in Visual Studio 2005 or above.

This would be included in the bqMTesterS code.

Hi Frank,

What is the Starting Point and what is the End Goal value? The software developers want to try and duplicate this problem, so the more they can duplicate the customer setup, the easier to recreate the problem.

The customer is away this week but sent me a response last night. In particular, the issues are with the .OCX file that needs to be included an any application. Here are her comments.

I think my problem is related to the given ocx. It is compiled in vb 6 .net 2.0 which from reading up on the problem online does not play well with application software compiled with later versions of visual studio vb .net.

Her immediate need is to get that OCX compiled in a newer version of .NET, is this possible?

Hi Shirish,

I am having similar issue trying to use the Bq80xRW.OCX in vb.net (VS2008). When I add the Bq80xRW Control to the form, the following error message pops up: "Failed to create component 'AcHost'. The error message follows: 'System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. ..." Could you please release a new Bq80xRW Control for the .NET environment?

Were you able to get a new OCX compiled in a newer version of .NET? I have similar issue (program crashes) when running with the old Bq80xRW.OCX loaded in VS2008.

Al,

From what I understand, you have to install bqMTester. This will install a free license automatically. If you just copy the source files directly, the program may not work.

If that does not help, then here is the link to the developer kit and free license. The developer kit will install the binaries and license on the machine automatically. Please note that TI does not officially support this kit, it is provided as-is.
