CFET vs ALERT for BQ28Z560-R1

Dear Sir.

What is the key difference between JFET and ALERT for BQ28Z560-R1?
GPIO can be configured as a alert pin when the fault event occurred. Can I think CFET mode is H/W configuration and ALERT mode is S/W configuration for over temperature condition? My customer used BQ20Z95 in her running model. Now she is considering BQ28z560-R1 in new project which has 10000mAh, 1S1P. What is the same configuation with BQ20Z95. I think that is CFET mode. Am I correct?

  • Hello Avraka,

The key difference between CFET and ALERT is:

    • CFET will turn the Charge FET off when over temperature during charging occurs.  The GPIO will then turn it back on when the temperature returns normal.
    • CFET and ALERT require different circuitry to operate.
    • ALERT is for visual (audible) indication only during over temperature Charge/Discharge

There may be another option I missed, so you may want to go through the Datasheet.

    Thanks,
