BQ34Z110 optimize

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34Z110

hi,

we used powersonic PS12200NB battery. it's 20Ah/12V lead acid battery.

could we characterize battery according datasheet Optimization process? or we need use mathcad to characterize the battery?

thanks

  • Pan Jian,

You need a good ChemID before starting the optimization cycle. You can collect discharge data and I can check it with our Mathcad program. You can use the attached document for reference to collect the data. You can submit a battery for characterization, if we cannot find an acceptable match.

  • Hi Tom,

    thanks for your response.

as your other response, the chip need use 2x scale because the battery is 20AH (>16383mAH). So I calibrated 2A current as 1A.

Does it base on 2x scale with characterization?

For characterization, only need discharge data?

the character should be change if the battery is aged. need we re-characterization?

    thanks

  • Pan Jian,

The discharge data can be scaled or actual current. I will have to scale it back to actual current for the Mathcad simulation. Just let me know which was used. The Mathcad analysis is not a characterization. The cell characterization is a set of profiles that we use to create a new ChemID. It is better is use a new cell for the ChemID analysis, but it will be okay if there have only been few cycles run on it. The device will update Qmax and the Ra table as the battery ages to maintain accurate gauging.

  • hi Tom,

Could you help check the chemID?

Refer follow attachment for the discharging data. the current is 2x scale. the battery is with a few cycle.

    follow is gg data.

    battery datasheet:

I ran mathcad "chemselect_cont_mcd11_rev36.mcd" according original attachment data. it blocked at "Chemistry selection processing". I don't know what happen I used original data.

    refer follow PIC:

    thanks

  • Pan Jian,

I checked your data with the Mathcad program and found ChemID 804 to be a marginal match to your cell, but it should be okay.

  • hi Tom,

Is the design cell capacity is setting to 10AH with the 2x scale?

    Qmax is 10Ah?

    design cell energy is 20WH?

I checked the software of "bq Evaluation Software". There is not "ChemID 804". How can we get the 804 information.

    refer follow PIC.

    thanks

  • Pan Jian,

All current and capacity parameters will need to be scaled by 2x. So, if the normal design capacity is 20Ah, you will enter 10000 mAh in the DF.

You will need to run the Chemistry Updater to update the ChemIDs on your computer. I have several e2e posts as to how to do this. Here is one of them.
