Hi
In early stages of development for a sometimes battery operated device and researching multi-cell (4) gauge/protection options and have some questions about the BQ40z50 device. The datasheet indicates a
typical ΔVOCD (OCD detection threshold voltage program step) with AFE protection = 1 is –5.56mV, and –2.78 with AFE protection = 0.
Appendix A of the technical reference manual, on page 216, shows finite values for each mode;
Pardon my naivete, but I am confused by this. Can the device be programmed using an incremental step OR a preset scale factor "code" or am I out in left field on this. And so that I am understanding correctly, can some one clarify what is the difference between AFE PROTECTION CONTROL[RSNS], aka AFE protection = 0 vs 1?
