Register chance at the BQ2416x --> BQ27530 --> EV2400 --> Gauge Studio

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24160, EV2400

Hello,

I am using Gauge Studio version 1.4.1 with an EV2400 and a BQ27530EVM.

How do I change the registers (Reg 00 Default, ...) of the BQ2416x? However, when I attempt to change these registers (Expert mode) upon refresh the register values remain unchanged.

Thanks!

  • The bq24160 is a slave to the bq27530 gauge.  You cannot make changes directly to the bq24160 using the EV2400 and Gauge Studio.  While using the bq27530 to control the bq24160, it is not recommended to change the bq24160 registers; however you can do so by downloading the bq24160EVM software, ordering a USB-To-GPIO box and connecting the box directly to the bq24160 SDA and SCL pins.

  • Hello,

    Now it works, the BQ27530 was deffekt! I control  the EVM via the EV2400 and Gaugestudio.

  • I am experiencing the same issue with the EV3200. Also Did you notice the actual register value was off by 0x01? How did you fix this replace the bq27530?

    UPDATE: I found out that I was using the q27530-G1 SLUUA73 TRM Draft document. It has lots of errors. It looks the entire charge controller section is based on the wrong charge controller from whats on the EVM board.
