Need a BQ3060 .senc File with Chemistry ID 404 (0x194)

In order to have initial readings for my LiFePO4 batteries that are more accurate than the initial readings provided by Chemistry ID (0x100), would it be possible to obtain a Factory .senc file with a chemistry ID of 404(0x194) loaded.

  • Hi Ryan,

    The bq3060 EVSW has an option to load the chemistry of your choice into a bq3060 IC. After doing that, you can save an .senc for your use. We cannot supply bq3060's with custom srecs pre-loaded unless your quantity is enormous which would generate a custom device!.

    A better approach might be to generate a "golden image" of the dataflash based on your desired chemistry. That way you don't need to mess with .senc files. Please see the app note on the product page for the bq3060 called "data flash programming and calibration".

    I apologize, but I just don't see how the battery chemistry can be updated using the BQ EVSW. I am using bqEVSW Version 0.9.59. The BQ3060 Manufacturer Access command 0x0008 Chemistry ID is Read only and is preloaded to 0x0100 which correlates to a Li-Ion battery chemistry.
    SBS Command 0x22 allows me to load a text value for Device Chemistry but seems to have no impact on performance.

    The BQ3060 Technincal Reference states "The initial RM and RSOC are estimated using the open-circuit voltage (OCV) characteristics of the programmed Li-ion chemistry (default ID0100), DOD at EDV2, and Qmax Pack."

    I would like to modify this to ID0404 which correlates to a LiFePO4 battery with similar discharge characteristics to the battery I'm using. I'm hoping to get the initial RM and RSOC closer to my battery's values. As it is, I need to discharge the battery fully and recharge it so the monitor can learn the battery's characteristics.

    Sorry, my mistake! That particular EVSW doesn't seem to have the ability to change the chem ID. If you export your .senc file from the EVSW and send it to me, I will update the chemistry and send it back to you. If you prefer not to expose it in the forum, then email it to me using wei4dao4bo2@gmail.com.
