bqeasy, bqstudio and guagestudio for bq27510-g3

Hello,

When I tried bqeasy to configure bq27510-g3, I got the error "could not find the subclass and offset", later I found posts here to discuss it back to 10/2014. I am wondering if new version bqeasy or bqstudio is available for bq27510-g3. Guagestudio supports b127510-g3, but it is not friendly.

My project is really urgent, I look forward to hearing from you ASAP.

I have the same problems. The new firmware version of the bq27510 defines new register locations so bqeasy has no access to the new ones.
When will TI update the software?

Hi Alex,
We have migrated to using bqstudio so there are no plans to make bqeasy functional. It is best to make modifications for your application using the gg file. Once you have configured all your needed parameters, you can then import and write the gg parameters to the gauge.

Hi Onyx,

Did you mean manually configure the parameters and create gg files? What tool can be use to configure the parameters? I tried the latest bqstudio, bq27510-g3 was not in the device list, was warned the risk to try wrong device on bq27510-g3, anyway the bqstudio can detect the device, but I could not move forward.

Now the bq27510-g3 configuration is the blocking step for my project, can you please provide the detailed instructions to configure its parameters, any application note is available? Do you have the bqstudio that supports bq27510-g3?

Hi Yunfa,
I just tested my board using bqstudio and it seems that there are some paramater mismatch even though I have the latest firmware version installed. I have notified our tools team and this will be looked into. In the meanwhile, make sure your chips are updated to the the latest firmware version which is v4.00 dowloadable from the link below:
www.ti.com/.../sluc442
Then you can use bqEVSW to extract your gg file, manually make the changes and then import it.

Hi Onyx,

the extraction of the .gg file is accompanied by an error "The value you entered is not allowed because it results in code(decimal)11. Division over Null".

Also a Read All command in Data Flash screen generate an error.

Did ti have a solution for this?

Hi Onyx,

I got the same error as Alex's. And bq27510-g3 has registers set for SOH, if bqeasy doesn't support it, even after I manually modified registers, the SOH registers set may still miss.

May I try your latest bqstudio that supports bq27510-g3, I am curious if I would get the same parameter mismatch?

I am wondering if TI provides general API for customer to program the fuel gauge by using external CPU or microcontroller?

What about treating the fuel gauge as common I2C device to write the writable registers by external controller or processor?

Hello,

ti has an developer kit software for the ev2300 box. This kit includes some COM objects (written in VB6) which can be used in a C# app. There exists class methods for a raw I2C communication to the gas gauge.
