bq27531 + bq24192i Timer Question

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24192I

Hi,

I used bq27531+bq24192i. The bq4192i can’t timeout during 18hr charging and I found bq24192i EN_TERM is "0" and it's read only. How to use bq27531 to enable the EN_TERM? Thanks!

  • Hi,
    Should I set bq27531 Chrgr_TermTimer_Reg5() bit6 to "1"? Thanks!
  • The gauge has the capability to write to any location where there is an RW. So bit 6 would be writable if you wanted to change it. The fact that the charger is not timing out seems to be related more to the EN_TIMER and the CHG_TIMER settings. The defaults for these values programmed by the gauge should be the same as the charger defaults (enabled and 8 hours). Unless the Reg 05 Default register in the gauge data flash was changed to disable the timer or lengthen the timeout, I'm not sure why the charger would not be timing out. You may be able to find more info for that on the charger forum.
