How to calibration with BQ34Z110 for Vehicle battery?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34Z110, BQ34Z100-G1

Hi.

I try to use BQ34Z110 in vehicle. I tested BQ34Z110 in vehicle without calibration. I can't get good result. I can see wrong Remain capacity and State of Charge value.

I need to calibration BQ34Z110 for vehicle battery(12V, 100Ah). How to Calibration with BQ34Z110? What kind of parameter change in the Data Flash section?

  • Calibration and running the optimization cycle are required for good gauging performance. There are several parameters in the data calibration section of the data flash that get updated during calibration. The Ra table and Qmax will get updated during the optimization cycle.  You can follow the Design Steps in the datasheet. There is also a document on the bq34z110 website that can help with running the optimization cycle. Lead Acid Battery Monitoring Implementation for Inverters Using bq34z110

You can also used this senc file that will make it easier to pass the optimization cycle. I would recommend that you switch to the bq34z100-G1 device. It was released a couple of months ago and some gauginf features have been added to improve SOC reporting performance. Your EVM can be updated to the -G1 and the firmware ans tools can be downloaded from the bq34z100-G1 website.
