MathCad mcd conversion

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34Z100, BQSTUDIO, BQ27441-G1, BQ34Z100-G1, BQEVSW

Hi,

I have downloaded MathCad Chemistry Selection tool from

www.ti.com/.../sluc138

and

MathCad Express from www.ptc.com/.../free-downloads

When following the instructions on MathCad Chemistry Selection Tool -

I am instructed to use the chemselect_cont.mcd

However MathCad only uses .mcdx.

Upon renaming the file  to mcdx - > the file cannot be opened and I am prompted with an error message .

Math Cad also installs with a MCD converter

following error occurs on execution:

MATHCAD15 M010 or later is needed ....

  • Mathcad 15.0 is required to support the tool. I can check for a match, if you will attach the log file.
  • Thanks Thomas,

We would need to repeat the logging - we faced some communication issues with the device.

I was wondering if you can perhaps advise on the following.

    Devices used: bq34z100G1 version 15
    bq34z100 version: unknown
    EV2300 - I2C
    Batteries: 2 * 2600mAh

I am using the sluc138cz and chemselect_cont instructions.
    Also Battery managment Studio (bqStudio) Version : 1.3.40 - 28 April 2015

    when using: bq34z100G1 v15

Upon opening the studio and Selecting 0100_015-bq34z100G1.bqz
I receive the following error message

" The detected device is not compatible with this application! Some actions could cause the device to lose communication permanently and enter an unrecoverable state. Proceed at your own risk. "

Q1: since the hours involved in a full charge and discharge exceed 12 hours - is there an automated way to do the battery learning - like in the BqEasy?

Q2: in instructional video http://bcove.me/gix5h28p [Unboxing the bq27441-G1 ], BQ studio is slightly different that the current I am using. It has Parameter QA & learning cycle buttons, but no Chemistry selection button. Should I be using the same program?

    when using bq34z100

Q3a: When trying to use BQ evaluation software - BQ EAsy to get the Chem selection I cannot find bq34z100 or Bq34z100G1

Q3b: How can I verify the version number of the device bq34z100 ? - i am not able to connect to it vie

  • Andreas,
The released version of the bq34z100-G1 is v16. You should program the device to this version and the firmware can be downloaded from the bq34z100-G1 website.

A1: We do not have a Learning Cycle tool in bqStudio for the bq34z100 device. If you are using an electronic load, then maybe it offers the feature to turn the load off after the pack voltage drops to the termination threshold.

A2: You cannot use the bq27441 bqStudio with the bq34z100.

A3: You cannot use the old bqEVSW tool with the bq34z100-G1. It is was replaced by bqStudio.

  • Hi Thomas,

Please find attached the log files.

    They have the following order:

    21MayCharge

    21May Wait

    22May Discharge

    22MAy Wait

    Many Thanks,

    Andreas

    21MayCharge.log21MayWait.log22MayDischarge.log22MAYWait.log

  • I should also mention that anything after 22/05/2015 17:40:33 are not correct, as one of the cells was shut down by the battery protection circuitry. BM Studio was reporting on screen something in the order of 3V - but recording in the log 7200mv.
  • Andreas,
The Mathcad program predicts that ChemID 1137 should be an acceptable match to your cell.
