Hi Ti community,

I am using the BQ20z655-R1 with an LCD 5 segment bargraph display - No problems with driving the LCD display all OK there.

However I need to switch the CHG and DSG Flash Alarm off. The Tech ref says to set them to -1 to disable.

This does not work. In fact I have tried to set other % values but the register seems to be stuck on 10% as if it needs to be reset or booted up with the new value.

Any ideas guys?

Hi Martin,
I think the part may be SEALED. Please check the OperationStatus(0x54) to see if the [SS] bit is set. If so use the UNSEAL (0x60) command with the appropriate key to unseal the device before changing the CHG and DSG Alarm thresholds.

Hi Swami,

It's not that. My units are unsealed and have full access.

Have you tried setting CHG and DSG Flash alarm to -1 (previously set to 10 %) ?
For me it has no effect on the existing fast flashing when charge is <10%

Its not the setting of the -1 that's the problem, its the effect it has that's not taking effect.
The 1st segment is still fast flashing.

Hi Martin,

The DSPLY0 bit is set, so it thinks it is a LCD.

Please try setting DSPLY0 to 0:

Hi Martin,
Sorry, I misunderstood the issue.
I am trying to get my hands on board with LCD. In the meanwhile let me check with my LED EVM if it is working when I disable the CHG DSG Alarm.

Thanks Swami,

I have my 5 segment LCD wired to the Ti BQ20z655-R1 Eval board and the result is the same.
Setting CHG and DSG Flash alarm to -1 does not disable the 10% fast flashing feature.

Hi Martin,

Sorry for the really late response.

You have to set the [LED1] [LED0] bits in "Operation Cfg A" register to 0,0 to enable the user defined thresholds, otherwise it will use the default built in thresholds for the Chg Alarm and Dsg Alarm Flash.
