LiMnO2 Fuel Gauge

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34Z100, BQ34Z100-G1

I need a fuel gauge for 2 primary CR123A cells (LiMnO).  I noticed previous posts about the bq34z100 (bq34z100-g1) which are over 2 years old.  Any updates?  Does TI have any App Notes about monitoring LiMnO2?  The bq34z100-g1 data sheet doesn't mention LiMnO2.  This is a very low power application...

Thanks!

  • Steven,
We do have several users in production using the bq34z100 to gauge Li primary cells. We do not have an application report to help, but the process will be the same as for rechargeable cells, except that you do not have to be concerned with the charging parameters. You will need to run the optimization cycle discharge to update Qmax and the Ra table for your golden pack. Collect the discharge and rest profiles and I can help you calculate the parameters.

  • That would be great if you can assist. I have not use TI's fuel gauge, so the process will be new to me.
