BQ40Z60 - CHGC problem - measured current more than requested

Hello,

I've made my own BQ40Z60 board, which is the same as BQ40Z60 excepted the following change :

- traditional fuse (no external burning)

- no 2nd degree protection (BQ294700)

- I want to charge at 1A and I want to improve resolution, so Rchg=30mOhms and Rsns=20mOhms (I set min voltage output=6283 / Voltage resolution = 25 / Current resolution =13 / max current register (1A) = 77)

- fixed in 3S configuration

The forum help me to resolve some problems (default init state = no charge, pin21 should not be floating,..)

Now my problem is that the charger is starting charge at about 0.87A (show on lab power supply and control with an oscilloscope) : for 1A requested, seem to be OK. But 9 seconds later going to 0A. 3 second later re-going to 0.87A, and it does this round and round...

After some Log, it seems to measure more current than it should (see. Log in attachment : current about 4A max and AvgCurr about 2A max).

I tried on 2 different boards, and see the same results… so it shouldn’t be a manufacturing problem.

Do you find something wrong in my configuration ?

  • I finally resolve my problem myself... but forgot to answer to my post!
    The problem was Rsns=20mOhms, that should be modify in :
    BQstudio -> data memory -> Calibration -> Current -> CC gain = 20 mOhm.
    Be carefull : when importing .gg.csv files, Calibration data (so CC gain) is not imported in default mode. You need to import it in advanced mode or modify CC gain manually after importing in default mode.
