BQ40z60 Evaluation Board Charging not possible

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ40Z60

Hello,

I have the BQ40z60 Evaluation Board to charge two Batteries by Typ Panasonic NCR18650B (Capacity 3350mAh).

It's only possible to discharge the Batteries but no charging!!

The Relatative State of Charge is always 100%. To perform a Learning cycle isn't possible.

I hope you can help me which register must be set to charge the Batteries.

Attached you will find the srec file in abq40z60.7z 7z file.

  • You did not have the CHG and DSG FETs enabled (FET_EN). You also needed to update these parameters to support a 2S configuration.

  • Thank you very much for your fast response and the modified file!!
    Now it is working :)
  • Hello!

I have a second problem. I reduce the threshold for the Cell Over Voltage under protections to 4250mV and now I can't charge my two batteries fully. Charging stops at the End of the Constant Current mode when the Pack Voltage is reached at 8500mV and the flag COV is set.

I can't explain this behavior, because I set all charging Voltages under Advanced Charge Algorithm to 4150mV.

Attached you will find my srec file.

EDIT: I found the mistake. The Minimum Voltage Output was not set correctly. In the manual of the Eval Board I found that the Minimum Voltage Output must be set to 4350mV. Please tell me, what background this value has and how I can calcluate it exactly!
